Learn The Art of Myanmar Traditional Puppetry

Young master Chit Swann Thu, a national champion, is helping revive this ancient art. Visitors can learn basic techniques from him, perform a short play, and top students may even get to guest-perform at the nearby outdoor theatre. In his youth, Pho Cho learnt the art of traditional wood carving from a friend-mentor who was a teacher in the Arts College. The guidance he received helped him to develop a skilful passion for wood carving, and have now become an expert himself, which is clearly evident in his shop that has a wide array of intricately and meticulously carved pieces of art on display that visitors can bring home. Pho Cho’s son, Chit Swann Thu is an outstanding traditional Burmese marionette puppeteer having won the champion title for two consecutive years (2007 & 2008) in the Solo Dance Marionette Puppetry Competition held every year that features performers from all around Myanmar. Victoria (Khuw Nu Sum / Khaw Nu Thoung) – Highest mountain in Chin State Kanpetlet Township –1,370 meters above sea level Bagan, an ancient city in Myanmar’s Mandalay Region, was the capital of the Bagan Kingdom from the 9th to 13th centuries. At its height between the 11th and 13th centuries, more than 10,000 Buddhist temples, pagodas, and monasteries were built, and about 2,200 still stand today. In Chin State, Mt. Victoria (also called Khuw Nu Sum or Khaw Nu Thoung) rises near Kanpetlet, Mindat, and Matupi as the state’s highest mountain, managed by the Department of Forestry and Environment. Kanpetlet Township itself lies in southern Chin State at an elevation of 1,370 meters above sea level. What Do We Do? Day 1 Welcome Yangon and Sightseeing Arrive Yangon, meet and greet with our station guide and half-day sightseeing around Yangon city. (Option 2 for the Soy Milk making and distribution to slum area kids) Day 2 Yangon – Bangan (Via Nyaung Oo by Flight) Have a breakfast at hotel, transfer to the airport to fly Bagan (Nyaung U airport), Upon arrival meet with our station guide and transfer to the Nyaung U colorful local market. And then check-in at hotel. At the afternoon visit to the Dhamayangyi pagoda, Thatbaynyunt pagoda, Anada pagoda. Feel the sunset from the Nan Taw Shae Temple.  Overnight hotel in Bagan. Day 3 Bagan – Chin state (Kanpatlat) by Private car After breakfast, drive about five hours to Kanpetlet Township, check in, and enjoy lunch at your hotel. Visit nearby villages to meet Chin women with traditional facial tattoos, hear music from a nose flute, taste the local brew, and shop for handmade products and traditional clothing before returning for dinner and an overnight stay. Day 4 Mt.Victoria trekking (soft) After breakfast, drive to Mt. Victoria’s 13-mile base camp and trek to the summit, enjoying sunrise views, blooming rhododendrons, cherry trees, and diverse birdlife before returning to your hotel for an overnight stay. From the 9th to 13th centuries, the city was the capital of the Bagan Kingdom. During the kingdom hight bwtween the 11th to 13th centuries, over 10,000 Buddhist Temples, Pagodas and monasteries were constructed in Bagan plains alone, of which the remain of 2,200 temples and pagodas survive to the present day. Not only Bagan’s magnificent architecture of the buildings but also our wonderful programs in Bagan and Yangon added to the package, you will happy and satasfied over the moon. What Do We Do? Day 1 Welcome Yangon and Sightseeing (Leave Nyaung Oo by VIP Express night bus) Arrive Yangon, meet and greet with our station guide and half-day sightseeing around Yangon city. Have a lunch and will take a sunset tour on World Famous Swedagon Pagoda. We will take dinner and spend our first night at Yangon.
