Bagan, an ancient city in Myanmar’s Mandalay Region, was the capital of the Bagan Kingdom from the 9th to 13th centuries. At its height between the 11th and 13th centuries, more than 10,000 Buddhist temples, pagodas, and monasteries were built, and about 2,200 still stand today. In Chin State, Mt. Victoria (also called Khuw Nu Sum or Khaw Nu Thoung) rises near Kanpetlet, Mindat, and Matupi as the state’s highest mountain, managed by the Department of Forestry and Environment. Kanpetlet Township itself lies in southern Chin State at an elevation of 1,370 meters above sea level.
